New biometrics card enables fingerprint authentication

The card is designed to capture user's fingerprints and provide two-factor authentication. It can be used with pharmacies, data centers, vending kiosks, and other devices and places.

Biometric technology company Zwipe has announced the launch of a new ID card called Zwipe ID. It is designed with the ability to detect and authenticate fingerprints, according to the press release

Zwipe ID is designed to capture user fingerprints and store that data, and it can also recharge at Access Control readers. It can be used with pharmacies, data centers, vending kiosks, and other places and devices, according to the release.

Zwipe ID is specifically designed for use with MIFARE DESFire and MIFARE Classic Access Control systems. "We are very excited to be releasing Zwipe ID as it is a highly sought after addition to our award winning biometric credential platform," said Kim Kristian Humborstad, CEO of Zwipe. "Zwipe ID reflects the ultimate convergence of technologies providing convenient and secure two factor authentication on one personal device."

"The demand for convenient and secure on-card biometric credentials has grown exponentially, and I am delighted to bring this product to the market," said Bob Fee, director of sales, North America, Zwipe. Zwipe will showcase this new ID card at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas from April 6 to 8.
