MTA to roll out more On the Go kiosks around NYC

September 20, 2013

The Manhattan Transportation Authority will forge ahead with it's On the Go kiosk pilot program, as MTA Chair Thomas Prendergast said this week that the agency will install at least 120 additional digital kiosks at 21 locations by the year's end.

According to an article on amny.com, 77 of the kiosks were to be installed over the summer, but a change in the computing system delayed the machines until the fall.

"We're going to roll that out ... at a number of other locations across the system, primarily high-volume locations where they get usage and tailored to the specific neighborhood, as well as the system at large," Prendergast said.

The 21 stations that will get new kiosks range from major hubs to smaller stations, with a goal to cater to both tourists and residents.

"We're going to be all over the place," said Paul Fleuranges, MTA's senior director for corporate communications.
