Mobile phones can be ugraded via kiosks in Panasonic stores

December 5, 2002

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Panasonic mobile phone users will soon be able to upgrade their phone's software using kiosks in Panasonic retail shops and factories.

California-based DoOnGo Technologies Inc. announced Dec. 4 that its Mobile Intelligence software is being licensed to Japan-based Matsushita Communication Industrial Co. to be featured on new Panasonic FOMA phones, said a company news release.

Mobile Intelligence will allow the pre-installed software on the phones to be rewritten via kiosks to offer users new features, services and correct software problems.

No information has been released about the kiosks Panasonic will use, nor has the street date been determined.
