One Walmart in Shrewsbury, Missouri, is removing its self-checkout kiosks and reinstalling traditional checkout lanes, according to a USA Today news report.

Shrewsbury is a suburb of St. Louis.

"The decision was based on several factors, including feedback from associates and customers, shopping patterns and business needs in this area," Briand Little, a Walmart spokesperson, told the news outlet. "We believe the change will improve the in-store shopping experience and give our associates the chance to provide more personalized and efficient service."

Little also told USA Today that the move is part of Walmart's "announced plans for additional investments and improvements to stores across the country."

The move to reduce self-checkout lanes is growing across the country, with Target and Dollar General among the brands moving to limit them in stores.
