Missouri Republican Representative Keith Frederick has introduced a bill to the Missouri state legislature that would permit medication-disposal kiosks at pharmacies. The bill's aim is to help contain the spread of opiods, according to ozarksfirst.com, which also said it would authorize the Missouri Board of Pharmacy to help develop a statewide drug take-back program
Walgreens installed disposal kiosks in about 500 drugstores in 39 states and Washington, D.C. in February 2016. In the next 18 months, Walgreens plans is to install an additional 900 kiosks across the country.
CVS Health announced a plan to expand its kiosk program last September. The company enlarged its program this month to 1,550 kiosks, including 750 additional disposal units in its pharmacies.
