The (Cincinnati) Enquirer: At microWINES, a new independent wine store that opened late last year, a customer sees nothing on the shelves but wine, about 450 labels, neatly stashed on handsome wood shelving.
But plenty of information is available. A customer can take a bottle of wine from its niche, swipe the barcode at microWINES' electronic kiosk, and all kinds of information pops up - including a description of the wine, where it's from, ratings, suggested food pairings and more. All good wine stores have well-informed staffers, but what makes microWINES different is that customers can be in charge of finding information at their own comfort level.
