MasterCard, Visa approve contactless-payment terminal

SAN JOSE, Calif. — VeriFone Holdings announced that its first external contactless-card-acceptance device, the QX100, has been certified by Visa and MasterCard for contactless payments on Visa Contactless and MasterCard PayPass.
The QX100 affixes to VeriFone's Omni 3700 and Nurit's payment systems, among others, providnig merchants a cost-effective migration to contactless, "tap and pay" card acceptance.The QX100 is capable of high-speed encryption using modern encryption algorithms.
