LAS VEGAS -- Lucidiom, Inc. has introduced three new models of its Touch Prints Automated Photo Machine (APM).
Two new countertop models (APM1000 and APM 2000) and a new standalone model (APM3000) complement the original APM standalone system (APM5000), according to a news release.
The most economical configuration, the APM1000, features an adjustable, angled touch screen that sits on top of a small desktop computer, while the APM2000 is an all-in-one desktop design.
The new standalone APM3000 is more rugged than the APM5000 and is designed for placement in remote, heavy traffic areas such as malls, amusement parks or tourist areas. Like the APM5000, an optional dye-sub printer fits in the cabinet.
According to the release, the APM Network connects each APM to Lucidiom's central database which allows for order tracking, remote diagnostics and support, and collection of usage statistics. The APM Network Web interface allows APM owners to access the information, and run and download customized reports.
Labs also can create their own discount coupons through the APM Network Web interface, according to the release. The coupons can then be printed each time a customer transaction is made, or a coupon code can be created by the lab and used in print advertising.
All models can be connected locally or remotely, via the APM Network, to a digital minilab. The APM is compatible with all leading photographic printers, including inkjet, dye sublimation and digital minilab printers. Each APM is equipped with a magnetic credit card/loyalty card reader and a 15-inch flat panel or LCD touch screen.
All APMs accept Smart Media, CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SDMC, xD (using an adapter card in Models 1000, 3000 and 5000), floppy disk and CD/DVD-ROM.
Lucidiom says that more than 200 APMs have been installed in photo specialty stores, electronics retail stores, supermarkets and tourist locations, with some serving as order and printing stations for customer photos at tourist attractions and special events. The company also has signed several OEM licenses of its Touch Prints software for systems installed in both the U.S. and Europe.
According to the release, typical transactions can be completed in under two minutes and produce 50 to 75 prints.
