Louisiana lawmakers Thursday passed a law to allow sports betting through kiosks, sports book sites and mobile apps in certain parishes, according to a wxxv25.com report.
Gov. John Bel Edwards is expected to sign the bill, meaning sports betting could begin as early as the fall.
The state will create 20 licenses for sports book operators, giving casinos and racetracks priority. If those businesses don't seek licenses by Jan. 1, video poker establishments and fantasy sports betting operators in parishes where sports betting is legal will be able to apply.
