LEXINGTON, Ky -- Lexmark International Inc. has introduced its answer to photo kiosks with a device that consumers can use in their homes: the PrinTrio Photo P3150.
The company's first sub-$100 all-in-one has built-in camera card slots. The tool meets the needs of consumers looking to generate, replicate and share photos, according to a news release.
On-board camera card readers enable digital camera enthusiasts to quickly retrieve images and generate brilliant borderless 4" x 6" and 8.5" x 11" prints, while the 48-bit flatbed scanner allows users to easily incorporate traditional photos into digital images.
"The PrinTrio Photo offers consumers access to a similar breadth of features as a photo processing kiosk found in retail stores, but in the comfort of their own homes," said Najib Bahous, Lexmark vice president and president of its consumer printer division. "With direct camera card slots, the PrinTrio Photo was engineered for digital camera owners and allows them to not only enjoy their digital snapshots, but also better preserve and share their traditional photos."
The PrinTrio Photo complements virtually all digital cameras, supporting CompactFlash I & II, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Secure Digital, MultiMedia, and Microdrive memory cards. Digital camera owners can insert memory cards into the unit directly, and within minutes edit, save and print their photographs, the release said.
The PrinTrio Photo's flatbed scanner captures the finest detail, with 48-bit color depth and 600 x 1200 pixels per inch optical resolution, offering customers the opportunity to convert traditional photographs into digital pictures.
Lexmark's integrated Photo Editor software ships with the PrinTrio Photo and allows users to perform commonly sought-after image editing such as red-eye reduction, cropping and re-sizing, and photo enhancement.
Lexmark's PrecisionSense media-sensing technology automatically adjusts the driver according to the paper type being fed through the input tray. The PC-enabled copier allows customers to make reprints quickly and easily with just the touch of one button, according to the release.
The PrinTrio Photo, which includes a color and photo cartridge, has an estimated price of $99. It will begin shipping soon and be sold by "popular" retailers, the release said.
