PORTLAND, Ore. -- Health and wellness information developer Healthnotes Inc. will provide a portion of its product line to grocery chain The Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) under an agreement announced on Aug. 27.
Kroger will offer the information on its corporate and division Web sites. Based in Portland, Ore., Healthnotes provides health care, nutrition, and lifestyle information through kiosks operated by groceries, pharmacies, and health food stores.
Kroger will offer Healthnotes' Healthchecker and Safetychecker products. Healthchecker provides information on 170 health concerns and information on vitamins, supplements, and herbal remedies. Safetychecker offers information on 10,500 possible interactions between supplements and medication.
"Kroger is always looking for innovative ways to satisfy the needs of our customers," Michael Donnelly, Kroger group vice president, said in a news release. "One way we can achieve that is by providing them with easy-to-understand information at their fingertips, so they can make informed buying decisions."
Healthnotes did not offer financial details about the arrangement or the length of the contract. Kroger was scheduled to launch Healthnotes' applications on its Web site Aug. 27.
