NEW YORK - Kodak'
Kodak has deployed 21,000 of the kiosks in the U.S., and another 14,000 in global locations. The company plans to grow the number of kiosks, which allow users to create prints from digital cameras, in a wide variety of retail locations. Most current placements are in drug stores and big box retailers.
The move by Kodak is part of a strategy to capitalize on surging interest in digital photography. A recent study by research firm International Data Corp. said shipments of digital cameras increased 30 percent in 2001.
