Kiosks signal the imminent demise of free parking.

Denver Post: There is no such thing as a free ride, and there is definitely no such thing as free parking in Cherry Creek North. The city of Denver has installed 76 kiosks in the 16-block parking district. On August 9, the new parking kiosks will start charging $1 an hour to park in spaces that now have 2-hour free street parking and private lots. Critics claim that the $1-per-hour rate will affect sales.
