Kiosks help Borders' customers locate products

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Borders' customers now can broaden their search for books, CDs or DVDs through the retailer's Title Sleuth self-service kiosks. A new, "Check Other Stores" feature allows customers to search for items in up to five other Borders stores if a title is out of stock at a particular location.

Borders has installed thousands of the Title Sleuth kiosks across the United States, and reports 1.6 million customer searches per week nationwide in 2001, according to a news release. The newest search feature displays a store map showing the customer where titles are located, if in stock, and also offers access to hundreds of upcoming local event listings, title reviews and recommendations.
