Kiosk in Shanghai offers augmented reality technology for trying on makeup

March 7, 2017

A store in Shanghai, China has been inviting customers to use a kiosk equipped with augmented reality facial detection technology that allows them to try on over 30 different products from makeup brands such as MaxFactor, Maybelline and Kate Cosmetics, according to Premium Beauty News.

The kiosk at Watsons' flagship store uses the augmented reality technology that the company, Perfect Corporation, offers with its YouCam app that has been downloaded more than 400 million times globally.

The augmented reality beauty technology allows customers to select colors and styles by experiencing several true-to-life effects in real-time. For cosmetic brands and beauty retailers, it is a way to seamlessly display their latest beauty products for customers to try on virtually.
