Kiosk component kills bacteria on touchscreens

May 19, 2016

Connected Technology Solutions recently won the 2016 I.Q. Innovation Award for its CleanTouch solution. According to a company press release, CleanTouch kills 99.9 percent of viruses and bacteria with UV-C surface sanitation.

CleanTouch is available with the Patient Passport Express kiosk, which offers check-in, bill payment and other features for healthcare facilities, according to a press release.

After each user transaction, CleanTouch performs a 30-second light wash to disinfect the screen.

"People go to their doctors to get better and may not want to use a touchscreen after another patient unless our CleanTouch solution has cleaned it first,” said Sandra Nix, president and CEO of CTS. "We wanted to devise a solution that would help these facilities take better care of their  patients. And CleanTouch does just that by making sure the high-touch kiosks combat the transmission of disease."

The winners of the I.Q. Awards will be honored at a lunch ceremony on May 18 at the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino in Milwaukee.
