KeyMe, a self-service key copying technology provider, has implemented RFID card duplicating capability at 111 of its 1,500 kiosks, mostly in urban U.S. areas, according to RFID Journal. The kiosks enable users with low frequency125 kHZ RFID keys to create copies of RFID cards. Once the kiosk reads the card, KeyMe creates a duplicate using the card data. The duplicate will then be shipped to the individual's home.
Greg Marsh, company CEO, said the retrofitted kiosks are mostly in New York City. The kiosks have been retrofitted with an RFID reader and antennas built from off-the-shelf and customized reader components.
