Key copying kiosk company KeyMe plans to expand its operations in Chicago by deploying 200-to-300 kiosks. The company enables users to make copies of their keys through the kiosk or a mobile app, according to a reportby Chicago Business.
Customers can take a photo of their key and store it the KeyMe database, so that if they lose their key, they can more easily get a copy made at a kiosk. In addition, if users need to copy complex keys such as fob keys, they can send in an order to the KeyMe office, which will ship to their homes.
"Our goal is to become one of the leaders in the locksmith industry, and a big part of that is Chicago," said Greg Marsh, CEO of KeyMe. "We're really excited to be growing our footprint there."
This expansion has been funded by $20 million from Series B funding. The company plans to deploy more than 1,000 kiosks across the U.S. in 2016 and more than 10,000 over the next three years, according to the report.
