Kansas town votes to install kiosk in massive local cemetery

November 19, 2013

Officials in Great Bend, Kan., voted to approve the installation of an interactive kiosk at the Great Bend Municipal Cemetery to help locate specific burial sites within the more than 15,000 plots. The kiosk will also provide access to obituaries, photos and other information.

According to an article on gbtribune.com, the kiosk will be produced and installed by Nebraska-based Windy Prairie Systems for a cost of $46,800, which will be paid for by the cemetery's perpetual funds account.

Cemetery Board President Justin Engleman said in the article that the lack of a standard system makes it nearly impossible to locate plots within the cemetery.

"We've talked for years about a kiosk," Engleman said.
