SAN DIEGO, Calif. and EDINBURGH, UK -- EWI Prepaid, a provider of advanced prepaid services and technologies, has formed a strategic partnership with KAL, an independent supplier of kiosk and ATM software.
By integrating EWI's PinXpress technology platform with KAL's Kalignite software platform, self-service devices will be able to process prepaid transactions, including wireless, long distance, utility payments, local phone service, Internet/Wi-Fi access, and sales of movie tickets, according to a news release.
EWI's PinXpress transaction platform delivers prepaid PIN codes in real-time.
"The addition of the EWI module to KAL's Kalignite demonstrates the flexibility of KAL's open architecture, hardware-independent platform, and opens the door to the lucrative prepaid market for the banking world," said Steve Hensley, KAL's executive vice president of worldwide sales, in the release.
According to the release, Kalignite is fully integrated and tested on hardware from 23 ATM vendors worldwide.
"KAL's extensive experience and sector focus were extremely appealing to EWI when we evaluated partnerships to help us enter the emerging self-service prepaid distribution channel," said Michael Struttmann, EWI's director of national sales.
