The Marion County (Iowa) Sheriff's Department installed a jailhouse kiosk inside the main door of the department for family and friends of inmates to deposit money into their accounts, according to the Journal Express.
The kiosk, funded by revenue from inmate accounts, allows inmates to purchase items such as a phone cards and snacks. The kiosk can handle card, cash, check or money order without help from staff, Jail Administrator Scott Jerkins said.
"It'll save jail staff a tremendous amount of time," he said in the article.
