Israeli company puts icing on cake kiosk deployer

February 21, 2004

JERUSALEM - Venerable Israeli households products manufacturer Shemen Industries has found a tasty way to enter the kiosk business. The company has purchased a controlling interest in Ugrafix, an Israeli company that markets kiosks that create edible pictures.

Shemen Industries paid about $700,000 for their interest in Ugrafix. The company expects the kiosk deployer to deliver export revenues of about $9.5 million over the next two years as it markets its kiosk line in Europe and Canada, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The kiosks, currently available only in Israel, allow customers to create kosher self-portraits that can go on cakes. The Jerusalem Postreports that Ugrafix has sold about 150 edible picture systems.
