Interface overhauls software on large kiosk project

June 2, 2003

WELLINGBOROUGH, England -- Interface, European provider of self-service kiosks, has completed one of its most challenging projects to date -- a complete overhaul of the Boots Advantage Point software encompassing 1,370 kiosks over 386 stores in just six months.

According to a news release, Interface was commissioned in 2001 to design and manufacture 1,500 housings for the retailer's iconic white Advantage Points kiosks. Interface then won the contract to deliver a replacement-software system that Boots can manage in-house.

The new software allows the retailer to deliver individually targeted offers, improve the accuracy of customer data and enable a quicker response time to business needs, the release said.

The kiosk functionality allows customers to update their personal details so that Boots can better keep in touch with them. The customer-facing side of the application has been given a new look and feel to make navigation easier, clearer and more appealing, according to the release.

Customer research has indicated a strong positive response to the refreshed application, and usage figures are on the increase.

Ian Radmore, Boots' senior information systems project manager, said, "Boots has the largest kiosk network in Europe and we needed to work closely with a partner who could cope with its scale, and the challenges that a busy retail environment creates."
