ICICI Bank rolls out 100 automated Touch Banking branches

April 23, 2014

ICICI Bank, which started offering automated Touch Banking branches a year ago, has now installed 100 kiosks in 33 cities across India, according to an announcement. ICICI Bank is India's largest private-sector bank and the country's second largest bank.

Touch Banking self-service branches are open 24/7, providing cash withdrawals and deposits, bank statements, fixed deposits, check deposits and fund transfers. They also offer Internet banking and videoconferencing.

"When people spend 10 hours a day at work, they have very little time left to do routine tasks such as banking," an ICICI Bank spokesperson said in the announcement. "So we offer our customers the option of banking any time of the day."

In February 2014, transactions at Touch Banking branches reached 2 million, double the number they had been six months earlier, ICICI said. Now around 100,000 new customers carry out transactions at the bank's automated branches every month.

ICICI Bank said it will open many more automated branches in the future, not only in big cities but also in smaller towns. "Customers have the same aspirations across the country, and we are seeing fast adoption of technology in small cities," the spokesperson said.

In addition to larger metropolitan areas, cities such as Rajkot, Vadodara, Vizag, Lucknow, Raipur, Surat, Siliguri and Guwahati now have Touch Banking branches.
