HP markets kiosks as back-to-school buying tool

July 6, 2003

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Hewlett-Packard Corp. announced an easy-to-buy PC package for students, parents and families preparing for the back-to-school season. Shoppers can visit an HP or retailer-branded store kiosk located in nearly 20,000 popular retail locations to order this PC, monitor and printer package.

For $499, consumers can purchase a Compaq Presario desktop PC, a 17-inch CRT monitor and an HP Deskjet printer, according to a news release.

Mark Sanchez, vice president, HP North America consumer computing, said HP's dual-channel model offers consumers the choice to buy off the shelf or build the right PC for their individual needs at in-store kiosks, online or direct from HP.
