HealthSpot sets up shop in Miami for Blue Cross and Blue Shield members

Florida Blue, Florida's Blue Cross and Blue Shield company, and Miami Children's Hospital have teamed up to deploy HealthSpot telehealth kiosk technology at the Florida Blue retail center.

Florida Blue, Florida's Blue Cross and Blue Shield company, and Miami Children's Hospital have teamed up to deploy HealthSpot telehealth kiosk technology at the Florida Blue retail center, according to a press release.

Miami Children's medical providers will treat adults and children via the 8-foot-by-7-foot enclosure outfitted with touchscreens, medical equipment and videoconferencing. An onsite accredited medical attendant will staff the station.

The HealthSpot kiosk is equipped with two-way, high-definition touchscreens and digital medical tools, including a stethoscope, scale, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, thermometer, otoscope and magnascope that stream medical information to the patient and provider.

HealthSpot will provide appointment and walk-in services to Florida Blue members for treating minor, common conditions and services such as fever, colds and flu, rashes, skin conditions, pinkeye and sties, earaches, sore throat, sinus infections, upper respiratory infections and seasonal allergies.
