Hands-only CPR training kiosk debuts at McCormick Place Convention Center

January 24, 2017

The American Heart Association and the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters have launched an interactive kiosk at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago designed to teach hands-only CPR, according to a press release. The kiosk provides lifesaving, hands-only CPR training in just a few minutes.

This hands-only CPR kiosk is the second in Chicago: a kiosk placed at O'Hare International Airport in February has already trained thousands of travelers in CPR.

The kiosk features a touchscreen with a video program that provides a brief introduction and overview of hands-only CPR, followed by a practice session and a 30-second test session. With the help of a practice manikin, or a rubber torso, the kiosk gives feedback about the depth and rate of compressions and proper hand placement – factors that influence the effectiveness of CPR.  The entire training takes about five minutes.
