NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. - For the second time in less than a month, online grocer Netgrocer has reached an agreement to provide in-store kiosks offering hard-to-find grocery items to a grocery store chain in the eastern United States.
Netgrocer is teaming with Penn Traffic (NASDAQ:PNFT) to offer its Endless Aisle program in selected P&C Food & Pharmacy stores beginning in April. Penn Traffic operates 218 supermarkets in New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and West Virginia.
Using the Endless Aisle program, shoppers can access specialty grocery items through P&C's Web site and in-store kiosks. Customers can select items on the kiosk and pay for them. The items are shipped to the shopper's home through FedEx.
In early March, Netgrocer and its parent company, NeXpansion, announced that the Endless Aisle program would be launched at Stop & Shop stores in New England (See story: Grocery chain to test in-store kiosks).
