Giant Eagle to test Redbox kiosks

December 18, 2006

PITTSBURGH — Supermarket and convenience store retailer Giant Eagle Inc. is testing Redbox DVD rental kiosks at five area GetGo c-stores beginning this month.

"We are very pleased to test Redbox DVD rental kiosks and make such a convenient service available to our customers," said Giant Eagle vice president of fuel and convenience store operations Dan Pastor. "The quick self-service transactions and one-dollar-per-night price make a perfect fit for our customers' on-the-go lifestyles."

For the initial pilot period, GetGo stores in Shadyside, Lawrenceville, Sarver, Brentwood and Wilkinsburg will feature the Redbox DVD kiosks. Should the test perform well, Giant Eagle will evaluate expanding the kiosks in Pittsburgh and its other markets.

Redbox currently features more than 1,800 locations and has rented over 25 million DVDs to date. (Read more news about Redbox.)
