Gemalto introduces AT10Ki, a cloud-ready document reader

June 24, 2019

Gemalto, a Thales company, has launched the Gemalto AT10Ki intelligent document reader, designed for enhanced connectivity solutions enabling cloud and mobile apps through Wi-Fi and Ethernet for applications where rapid verification of official documents is essential.

High performance on-board processing reduces queuing time, fights fraud and meets compliance requirements. The AT10Ki can support a shared reader environment and provide a direct connection to cloud applications with a more flexible authentication of passports, drivers' licenses, ID cards, visas and other credentials, according to a press release.

The on-demand device gives multiple users the ability to share a single reader connected through a Wi-Fi/Ethernet network. For apps that utilize tablets and/or smart phones, the AT10Ki removes the burden of direct physical connection to a PC or workstation. The technology facilitates large deployments requiring remote management and provisioning. Intuitive landing lights and tick/cross indicators help users correctly place documents, assuring a successful first-time read rate and positive user experience.

Potential use cases for the AT10Ki include border management, customer check-in for airlines, cruise lines and hotels, reducing fraud while helping to meet the know your customer regulations in financial transactions and giving the right people access to the right areas in visitor management solutions.

"With the AT10Ki, reliable document authentication and data capture go hand-in-hand with a faster, more convenient user experience," James MacLean, director document reader solutions for Gemalto, said in the release. "What's more, operators can now implement a solution that fits perfectly with their wider IT and networking strategies."
