World Patent Marketing has announced the launch of Game Box, a vending machine designed to sell or rent video game discs. Gamers will be able to select games for a variety of consoles, and companies can customize the Game Box to present special offers, according to the press release.
Gamers can watch 10-second video samples of the game on one of the kiosk's two display screens before they make a purchase. In addition, the kiosk will stock educational games, according to the kiosk's inventor, Darren S.
"The Video Games industry is worth $44 billion," said Scott Cooper, CEO and creative director of World Patent Marketing. "The industry will remain strong as consumers increasingly adopt new consoles and games. The market for video games will extend beyond young males, as more women start to play heavily as well."
"I do not live close to the mall and this makes it difficult for me to purchase or even rent video games," said John Grant, a gamer from Arizona. "With the Game Box, I can now make a video game purchase or rent one out without having to head out too far."
