Fujifilm selects SCM's new reader for photo kiosks

FREMONT, Calif. -- Fuji Photo Film USA Inc. will use SCM Microsystems' (Nasdaq: SCMM) digital media reader for its Aladdin Digital Photo Center and Frontier Digital Lab Systems.

The reader makes it easy to download digital pictures to Fujifilm's self-service imaging kiosks and digital lab systems for editing or printing, according to an SCM news release.

SCM's next-generation PCD industrial digital reader/writer was designed specifically for use in industrial photo kiosks and minilabs. The five-slot standard 3.5" bay design features an industry standard Type II PC Card slot and dedicated built-in slots for CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digital and Memory Stick.

For users of other supported media, the Type III PC slot will accommodate most ATA compatible PC Card adapters as well as Type II or III Compact Flash cards and hard disks, according to the release.
