Fresh Healthy Vending International Inc. plans to open 100 new locations across the country, according to a company announcement.
"Our location procurement team has been busy securing quality locations for our franchisees. As each month passes, our team continually demonstrates the attractive win-win values of our business model to decision makers in a variety of location categories," CEO Alex Kennedy said in the announcement. "With that, we're finding more and more of those decision makers across the nation are taking the initiative to provide consumers with an alternative to the traditional, unhealthy snacks generally found in other vending machines."
A total of 273 new location agreements were reached by the end of June 2014 for expansion of its healthy snack products. Thirty percent of those are in schools.
Fresh Healthy Vending is an advocate of the USDA Smart Snacks program, which mandates school food meet certain calorie, fat, sodium and sugar criteria, the announcement said.
