Meaggan Pettipiece, a former Canadian Olympian and head softball coach at Valparaiso University, has had charges of theft, marijuana possession and possession of a controlled substance dismissed, according to a National Post report. The charges stemmed from an alleged theft incident at a Walmart self-checkout in March.
Pettipiece resigned from her coaching position following the arrest and faced significant career setbacks. Despite the charges being dropped, she said there has been lasting damage to her reputation and career.
"I'm happy my family's all back together. We sacrificed as a family for me to be there coaching and continuing my coaching career," Pettipiece told the news outlet. "The tough thing is, how do you get out to people that you are innocent? And this damage was done for something so ridiculous."
