Florida county sheriff spreads crime tips, info with kiosks

St Johns County, Florida residents will now be able to identify criminals and receive crime tips on the go with new informational Pro-Tektor kiosks. The Pro-Tektor kiosks, which were deployed by the county's sheriff's office, provide information on crime and safety in the area, according to areport by News 4 Jax.

The kiosk has a video screen that is divided into three different sections with various information regarding amber alerts, unsolved crimes, sex offender notifications, safety tips, wanted individuals and other information.

"This is another tool that we can get information from the public on a variety of outstanding and cold case investigations as well as present many tips to our citizens," Sheriff David Shoar said in the report.

The kiosks are updated wirelessly and are currently located at six high-traffic locations throughout the county, according to the report.
