Florida allowing pharmacies to use kiosks to dispense medications

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a bill permitting pharmacies to dispense medication through self-serve kiosks, according to a floridapolitics.com report.

The machines already dispense medications at prisons and long-term care homes.

The kiosks will not dispense controlled substances that can prove addicting.

Representatives from Walgreens, MedAvail, AARP, Walgreen's, Americans for Prosperity, the Florida Retail Federation and the James Madison Institute supported the measure. The Florida Pharmacy Association opposed it during the 2020 session.
