Fingerprint verification for kiosk, self-service systems

October 6, 2008

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Biometric-based software systems and solutions company Human Element Biometrics has introduced BioConnector, a software component that allows system developers to add fingerprint verification to their applications without using low-level software-developer-kit coding. The product will be marketed to kiosk and self-service delivery systems, as well as vendors in the retail point-of-sale, workforce management, financial, healthcare, gaming/casino, education and hospitality industries.

According to a news release, BioConnector saves a lot of the development and integration time that made adding biometric readers in the past impractical. BioConnector handles the interaction with the fingerprint reader and the verification process, as well as storage and retrieval of the fingerprint templates.

"BioConnector utilizes the Digital Personal hardware and verification engine. The combination of the two makes our system the most secure option available," said Roger Grant, founder of Human Element Biometrics.
BioConnector is built using Microsoft's .net framework and uses the Digital Persona fingerprint verification engine. The .net platform makes it easy to implement, while the hardware and verification engine provides proven, accurate and secure results.
