York, Maine has lost hundreds of thousands of dollars because of faulty parking kiosks installed in May, according to the Portland Press Herald.
If a credit card was inserted incorrectly, the person would need to use a pair of pliers to remove the card from the reader.
The software did not work properly with the town's network, and the kiosks would often go into sleep mode and not reconnect, preventing motorists from paying for spots.
Hectronic USA, which sold the 20 kiosks and software for about $220,000, has been working since May to fix the issues, said Town Manager Stephen Burns.
