WAYNE, Pa. - USA Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:USTT) has used its cashless transaction technology system to enhance customer service in taxicabs and Laundromats. Now it hopes to do the same for people in need of eyeglasses.
The Pennsylvania-based company, working with Canadian company Instant Eyewear Ltd., has developed a self-service kiosk that allows customers to purchase sunglasses and prescription frames. The Instant Eyewear kiosk features a touchscreen that enables customers to take eye exams at the kiosk. The kiosk then makes a recommendation on eyewear, and customers can purchase the frames with the swipe of a credit card.
Instant Eyewear is part of USA Technologies's e-Port vending program. USA Technologies has utilized e-Port as a self-service payment service in New York City cabs and in Laundromats.
"In the future, vending machines will dispense just about every kind of food or consumer product sold today in department stores and supermarkets," Michael Lawlor, USA Technologies senior vice president of sales and marketing, said in a news release.
USA Technologies did not disclose any immediate deployment plans for the Instant Eyewear kiosk.
