Event ticketing gets in the Groove

February 24, 2002

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Southern California music fans looking for live music options can now make the scene with the use of a kiosk. GrooveTickets.com unveiled its new Ticket Terminal event-access kiosk during a party at Higher Source Records and Gear's Huntington Beach store on Nov. 15.

Using the touchscreen kiosk, music fans can access information on upcoming shows and purchase tickets using cash or a credit card. The kiosk is oriented toward music offered at its host store; in the case of Higher Source, this means house, trance, techno, and hip-hop music.

"We have developed the ticket sales terminal in order to integrate physical outlets into our core business plan," Todd Sims, GrooveTickets.com chief executive officer, said in a news release.

GrooveTickets is using Higher Source's Huntington Beach store as its test outlet. If the pilot is successful, the company plans to deploy more than 100 kiosks in Southern California locations over the next two years.
