DENVER - Synergy Media Group announced in a press release Monday that its TouchStand Media Kiosk will add new features to provide retailers with in-store digital music downloading and CD burning. These features will be available to entertainment retailers in Q4.
TouchStand's digital downloading and CD burning features allow retail consumers to search and preview music, build custom digital play lists, and download them to a portable device, flash drive or burn them to a CD. Synergy Media Group, which is currently acquiring content licensing rights from major labels, independent labels and other content aggregators, will preview TouchStand's new features at the NARM tradeshow in San Diego, Aug. 21-24.
The TouchStand Media Kiosk offers retailers' customers a database of music and movie clips and related metadata that are accessible by scanning a CD or DVD barcode into the kiosk or searching by artist, title, song, label or genre. Retailers can customize the kiosk with Featured Title Lists that direct shoppers to new releases, staff picks or other select products being promoted in-store. TouchStand gives retailers an unprecedented view of their customers' in-store previewing, browsing and buying habits, which enables them to increase sales by better understanding their customers.
The company also announced the beginning of two large-scale deployments with Altitunes and Value Music. Altitunes, the leading airport retailer for CD, DVD, portable electronics and consumer electronics, will place TouchStand Media Kiosks in all of its 28 locations, beginning with Los Angeles/LAX, New York/Grand Central Station, Orlando International, Atlanta/Hartsford and San Francisco International. Value Music, a 66-store music retail chain, is currently deploying TouchStand Media Kiosks in 4,000- to 17,000-square-foot stores in Memphis, Tenn.; Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Foley, Ala. and recently acquired Manifest stores in Columbia, S.C. and Charlotte, N.C.
"These new capabilities are an extension of the comprehensive sales and marketing solution we are providing retailers," said Michael Fitts, CEO of Synergy Media Group. "While we believe that the sale of physical product will continue to be a mainstay in the market, we recognize the exciting opportunities that digital media offer retailers in the areas of increased sales, inventory control, promotions opportunities and enhanced customer experience."
