eGame Preserve brings gaming to truck-stop kiosks

February 26, 2002

BALTIMORE - Gaming company eGame Preserve LLC, seeking to create an oasis from the stress of traveling, announced on Nov. 1 the roll out of its eGame Preserve Web site. The site is accessible on the Internet and through AT&T Internet kiosks at 198 truck stops in 40 states and public telephones at seven airports, including John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.

Players can sign up for free at the Web site. Four games are currently offered, including a word search and golf game, and the company said more would be added each month. Players play for eGPoints; the company said the points will soon earn players unspecified travel-related benefits.

The privately held company plans to generate revenue through advertising and the sale of eGame Preserve merchandise.

"We built eGame Preserve because of the undisputed popularity of games and entertainment and the glaring need for effective content," Mike Szimanski, eGame Preserve president and chief executive officer, said in a news release. "The more these devices are used, the greater their revenue streams and the greater the volume of consumer eyeballs that are of interest to the advertisers."
