DVDXpress adds subscription price model

October 2, 2006

NEW YORK, N.Y. — DVDXpress Inc., operator of DVD rental kiosks, announced the launch of its Netflix-style subscription model for its supermarket-based kiosks. Customers can subscribe and rent as many movies as they want each month for a fixed price of $12.99.

"For DVDXpress, the variable cost to deliver a DVD to one of our subscription customers is zero compared to Netflix or Blockbuster Online, where the cost is at least 75 cents per DVD in roundtrip postage plus handling costs," said Greg Meyer, chief executive and co-founder of DVDXpress. "This provides DVDXpress with a significant cost advantage which we can pass along to our customers. This is by far the most cost effective way to rent DVDs."
