DVD download-to-kiosk is a gift bag perk at Entertainment Merchants conference

August 22, 2010

The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) has teamed with MOD Systems to provide "virtual gift bags" to all attendees at the upcoming "Digital Media Pipeline '10: The Business of Digital Entertainment" conference.

Perfectly suited to the Digital Media Pipeline audience, the innovative gift bags are the first to include digital movies from among the thousands of titles in the MOD Systems digital download kiosk, as well as digital files of all conference materials. Digital Media Pipeline '10 is the first conference to provide digital entertainment content and conference materials on Secure Digital (SD) memory cards to attendees.

Each Digital Media Pipeline '10 attendee will receive an 8 GB SD card from Kingston Technology with new release digital movies from the MOD Systems digital download kiosk and the complete conference materials. Attendees can visit the MOD Systems kiosk throughout the day to download additional movies. Digital movie downloads take only a couple of minutes, and movies can be played back on a Windows-based computer using the MOD Systems GreenPlay Media Player, included with each download. Randomly selected SD memory cards will also include a digital "Golden Ticket" for various prizes, including a drawing for a Slingbox media player.

Digital Media Pipeline '10, which is presented by the Entertainment Merchants Association, will be held Sept. 15 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. This second-annual, one-day event brings together digital entertainment content owners, service providers and retailers to focus on business-to-business opportunities in the digital delivery of home entertainment to consumers.

MOD Systems' senior vice president of sales, marketing and business development Larry Smith will present on GreenPlay technology, a new, high-quality digital video format that enables consumers to quickly download movies and TV programs to SD memory cards from self-service kiosks and play them on a wide range of PCs and consumer electronics devices.
