Disney sues Redbox over digital film code sales

Disney has sued Redbox for illegally selling Disney digital film codes to customers, according to World Intellectual Property Review. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division, claimed the DVD and Blu-ray disc packaging is marked as not being for sale.

The suit claims Redbox disassembles the package after buying it, then rents the discs through tis kiosks and separately sells the codes.

Disney, which filed the suit along with its subsidiaries Luscasfilm and Marvel, claims Redbox knows its action violates the terms of the copyright.
