BURNABY, British Columbia - Discovery Communications Inc. and Info Touch Technologies Corp. are test-marketing a kiosk that allows shoppers at Discovery Channel stores to perform e-commerce activities online while shopping.
Kiosks have been installed in six U.S. mall locations. Discovery Channel store shoppers can access the kiosks to access additional inventory and previews products such as videos and CDs. The stores are in Sacramento and Concord, Calif.; Schaumburg, Ill.; McLean, Va.; Raleigh, N.C. and St. Louis.
The test began last fall. According to Info Touch, the kiosk have been in use 45 percent of the time the stores have been open during the deployment. It uses Surfnet Premiere, Info Touch's kiosk management software.
