Dircks creating user interface for shopping-cart-based kiosk

June 3, 2002

ST. JAMES, N.Y. -- Following a successful pilot program, Unipower Solutions Inc. has hired Dircks Associates to create a user interface for its shopping-cart-based kiosk, according to a Dircks news release.

Unipower is planning a multi-store rollout of its mobile kiosk at Stop&Shop supermarkets throughout New England, New York and New Jersey. No specific dates or details were released.

The kiosk, called the Personal Shopping Assistant, debuted at Wincor World 2002 in January.

The wireless touch screen tablet can be placed on shopping carts, tracking a shopper's route in-store and providing promotional items, coupons and specials relevant to a particular aisle. The device also can guide the shopper through aisles based on a shopping list, according to a Unipower news release.

Dircks, based in St. James, N.Y., is an integrated marketing communications firm. Dircks creates interactive promotions and online marketing projects for several of its clients, including America Online, AmericanGreetings.com and ESPN.
