The Information and Communications Technology Research Centre of Excellence (NICTA) has deployed digital service kiosks to Kiama Municipal Council in New South Wales, Australia to help improve access to government services for citizens.

According to an article by Peter Dinham, of ITWire, around 36 percent of all residents of Kiama are over the age of 55 and many of them have issues with poor mobility and health. In addition, many residents live in areas with limited internet services, thus many do not have access to government resources.

The first of these kiosks will be available at the Kiama council's library. Users who experience difficulties can receive help from the librarian on staff or a video link to a customer representative.
