Delta Airlines' Los Angeles airport hub has installed 10 passport kiosks at Terminal 5, a Forbes article said.
"We were the first airline (at LAX) to offer kiosks," said Ranjan Goswami, Delta managing director of national account sales, in the article. "The funding process was taking too long on the government side, and we knew we needed to get these kiosks in as soon as possible, and we've been able to act quickly."
Customs wait times have decreased 29 to 45 percent, Goswami said in the article. Delta's goal is to deliver luggage to international travelers within 20 minutes.
The "most aggressive" airline to jump on the automated customs bandwagon, according to Forbes, is Delta. The company plans to install 200 passport kiosks before the end of the summer.
Like United Airlines at Newark Liberty, Delta deployed Vancouver International Airport kiosks in its Atlanta, Detroit, New York and Seattle hubs.
