Recently, due to a severe computer outage, kiosks for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection went down at multiple airports on Oct. 14. Some of the airports affected were Dallas/Fort Worth International, Los Angeles International, JFK International Airport and Boston Logan International, according to a report by WSB-TV.

The story unfolded on Twitter as several passengers tweeted about the ordeal. At one point, at least 1,000 people were lined up at the JFK International Airport to use the only working kiosk in the airport.

The problem occurred when the Department of Homeland Security's computer system that compares airline passengers to known individuals on the terrorist watch list experienced disruptions. After more than an hour of downtime, the system was back up and fully operational, according to the report.
